Touching Honesty and Touching Hearts

We're incredibly proud that Sharing Plate is now an award winning podcast, having been recognised at the International Women's Podcast Awards. We won the Moment of Touching Honesty category with Sasha Djurkovic's Slavic Offering and Saoud's Hot Tomatoes made the shortlist for Moment of Raw Emotion.
Sasha grew up in Sarajevo. She and I listened to the same music. But while I watched the Bosnian war on TV, Sasha was living through it.
The way in which Sasha recounts how her teenage life changed when war came to her home city of Sarajevo is matter of fact. It’s almost so understated, that you don’t appreciate the magnitude of what she’s lived through. How a quest for ice-cream turned into a near death experience, or how hormones influenced her choice of bomb shelter.
The afternoon spent recording in Sasha's kitchen was life affirming. She’s funny, inspirational and cooks a mean pie and peas.
